Courtney Buckley / NCWRC

Courtney Buckley is a Fisheries Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission responsible for the management of inland fisheries in the central coast of NC. Despite being a New York native, Courtney has lived around the country pursuing knowledge of wildlife and fisheries management. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a Master of Science in Marine Conservation and Resource Management from the University of South Alabama at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. During her graduate studies she used acoustic transmitters to evaluate the post release mortality of hatchery raised Red Drum in Alabama coastal rivers. Her experience has come in handy when addressing the resource management goals and challenges here in eastern NC, while striving to maintain a healthy ecosystem that can be enjoyed by all. In her spare time Courtney enjoys traveling and photography.
